Docklands Light Railway Bank route at near Limehouse

This is the Limehouse Basin Accumulator Tower, a familiar landmark to regular travellers on the adjacent DLR viaduct. Built in 1869, and restored in 1995 (including reconstruction of the chimney to its original height), this former pumphouse was built to service the lock between Regents Canal Dock (now Limehouse Basin) and the Regents Canal. As part of the renovation, an internal spiral staircase and roof-top veiwing platform were installed, and the tower is occasionally open to the public
