This station is the terminus of the London City Airport extension. Construction has started, however, on an extension south from here, in tunnel under the River Thames, to Woolwich Arsenal.
The station serves a primarily residential area, and is a short walk from North Woolwich main line station and the Woolwich Free Ferry and Woolwich Foot Tunnel.
