Trafford Bar is on the former Manchester–Altrincham railway line. The stop was named Old Trafford in British Rail days; what is now Old Trafford Metrolink stop was formerly Warwick Road British Rail station.

Serco contractors are undertaking refurbishment work at Trafford Bar stop, and with their permission this photograph of the inside of the former ticket office was taken. On the right the ticket window is still in tact, covered on the public side by a roller shutter
