Docklands Light Railway lcy route

There are currently two ways to cross the river from North Woolwich to Woolwich—the Woolwich Free Ferry and the Woolwich Foot tunnel, the southern entrance to which can be seen on the right of the picture. With the opening of the Woolwich Arsenal extension to the City Aiport line there will be three.

This is one of three vessels which service this crossing, seen loading at Woolwich on the south bank of the river. The approach roads to the ferry stages are Trunk Roads, for which Transport for London is repsonsible, and for this reason the ferry is run as part of TfL Streets Management rather than River Services. The TfL Streets roundel is displayed on the side of the vessel
